Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, outlining his vision for Artificial Intelligence as a force that can be “beneficial for all.” Calling AI a historic transformation comparable to earlier technological revolutions, PM Modi said the real question is not what AI can do in the future, but what humanity chooses to do with AI today. He stressed that AI must be democratised, open, inclusive, and human-centric, especially for the Global South. The Prime Minister highlighted the need for skilling, reskilling, lifelong learning, and global standards to ensure AI develops as a “global common good.” He also raised concerns about deepfakes and misinformation, urging watermarking and authenticity labels to build trust in AI systems from the start. From open-source code to inclusive growth, PM Modi called for collective responsibility to ensure AI elevates humanity rather than disrupts it.
