In a post on social media platform X, the company said that it has partnered with Karbonn Mobiles to introduce an exclusive SIM handset bundling offer. These handsets will compete with Jio Bharat 4G feature phones. With this, users will not need to buy expensive smartphones to use the company’s 4G services.
BSNL has planned to stop scam calls on its mobile network. To deal with spam calls, it will use solutions related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). This solution will be presented at the India Mobile Congress to be held this month. Recently BSNL had said, “A solution based on AI/ML is being developed to identify and remove spam calls. We are committed to keeping users safe from unwanted calls and messages.” Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has also started taking strict action regarding spam calls. Recently, telecom companies have disconnected more than 2.75 lakh mobile connections to curb unregistered telemarketers. Along with this, many firms have also been blacklisted.
With this, BSNL has started testing 5G network. The company aims to launch one lakh 4G sites by the end of the current financial year. 5G networks of big private telecom companies like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are present in large parts of the country. The central government plans to bring BSNL into profit soon. BSNL’s 5G network is being tested in collaboration with the Center for Development of Telecommunications (C-DoT). C-DoT itself has provided the network core for 4G. This core can also be used for 5G. However, this will require some upgrades.
