Scholarship at IISc Bangalore
According to the official website of the institute, students are awarded scholarships and fellowships from the date of their admission. All students who join the institute are eligible for scholarships or fellowships from agencies such as CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, MHRD, AICTE, DAE (NBHM), or DST, depending on their mode of entry. However, this eligibility does not apply to those enrolling in the M.Sc., M.Mgt., B.Tech, or M.Tech programs through CFTI mode, as well as those in the Joint M.Tech in Semiconductor Technology and 1 -Year M. Engineering programs.
The scholarship is provided for a maximum of two years for M.Tech, M.Des, and M.Tech (Research) programs, while a fellowship is available for up to five years for Ph.D. programs. Students who enroll in M.Tech and M.Des programs automatically agree to and assure that they will not leave the course midway. However, if a student must leave the course for unavoidable reasons, they are required to refund the entire scholarship amount received prior to their departure from the institute.
Additionally, students who receive a salary from their employer or are sponsored are not eligible for scholarships or fellowships.
The official website also states that students admitted to M.Sc. and M.Mgt. programs, as well as B.Tech and M.Tech programs through CFTI mode, the Joint M.Tech in Semiconductor Technology, or the 1-Year M. Engineering program, are not entitled to institute-funded scholarships. However, they can apply for scholarships or fellowships from external agencies.
