iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus specifications
Both the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus run on iOS 18. The iPhone 16 gets a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display that supports Apple’s Ceramic Shield protection, dynamic island, and peak brightness levels up to 2000 nits. The iPhone 16 Plus gets a larger 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display that comes with the same display features as the vanilla model. Not only this, apart from the display, all other specifications of the Plus model are the same as the vanilla model.
Both iPhone models come equipped with a brand new octa-core A18 chipset. It includes the Apple Intelligence (AI) system recently introduced by the company to the world. The iPhone 16 models will also support AAA games, which were previously available only on the iPhone 15 Pro, such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Resident Evil. Apple has introduced the new iPhone models in storage options up to 1TB. The handset is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.
Unlike last year’s models, the new iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models get a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera equipped with f/1.6 aperture and 2x in-sensor zoom and a 12-megapixel 2x telephoto lens with f/1.6 aperture. The third camera is a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, which is fitted with a telephoto lens in the bottom ring present in the island. Apple is calling this system the Fusion Camera System. The iPhone 16 models also claim to offer better audio by reducing wind noise and background noise through machine learning. A 12-megapixel TrueDepth shooter has been included on the front for selfies and video calling.
Both models also have a capture button, which opens the camera app with a single push. If the capture button is pressed while in the app, a photo is captured, while if the same button is long pressed, a video can be recorded. Apart from this, an action button has also been included in both these models.
Both models come with USB Type-C port. As usual, this year too, the RAM and battery capacity of the latest iPhone 16 models have not been disclosed. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC.
