This study found that children who were given low-sugar foods for two years from birth had a 20 percent lower risk of cardiovascular disease than children who consumed only sugar-rich foods.
Children who consumed less sugar had a 26% lower risk of heart failure, myocardial infarction by 25%, atrial fibrillation by 24%, stroke by 31% and death from cardiovascular disease by 27%.
According to health experts, children are often unaware of the amount of sugar they consume in a day. According to a WHO report, children should not consume more than 25 grams of sugar in a day. But most children in India are consuming far more sugar daily. This has a direct impact on children’s teeth, weight, energy level and even future diseases.
