Speaking at a press interaction in New Delhi, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor addressed questions regarding India’s continued purchase of Russian oil and Washington’s position on the matter. Gor stated that the United States has been clear in its stance — it does not want any country purchasing Russian oil, as President Donald Trump has emphasized the need to end the ongoing war. He said the administration believes that reducing financial flows connected to the conflict is essential to advancing peace efforts. At the same time, the Ambassador acknowledged that India has diversified its energy sources and noted that there are ongoing discussions between the two governments on energy cooperation. He refrained from disclosing details of private conversations between leaders but confirmed that multiple mechanisms — not just executive actions — are being worked through across departments.
