PM Internship Scheme, The Prime Minister Internship Scheme, announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in this year’s Union Budget, has gained significant momentum, with over 1.55 lakh applications recorded within just 24 hours of its launch on October 12, as per media reports.
The government has allocated ₹800 crore to fund this pilot initiative, with the first batch of interns expected to start in early December.Registration for the scheme began on October 12, and interested candidates have until November to apply before the selection process begins. By mid-November, the first group of selected candidates may receive their internship offers.
The internships will be available across 24 sectors, including oil, gas and energy, travel and hospitality, automotive, and banking, with opportunities distributed across 737 districts in 37 states and union territories.
The scheme is open to candidates aged 21-24 with qualifications ranging from high school diplomas to undergraduate degrees, such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, and B.Pharma.
Which are the top companies offering internships?
Several renowned companies have already posted internship opportunities on the platform. Among the top employers are Maruti Suzuki, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, Jubilant FoodworksMuthoot Finance, and Eicher Motors. These companies represent a broad range of industries, with the largest number of openings in the oil, gas, and energy sector, followed closely by travel and hospitality, automotive, and banking and financial services.
