Samsung and Netlist spokespersons did not respond to requests for comment. The jury that gave the verdict in this case in the Texas court in America has found that Samsung had knowingly committed this patent infringement. Because of this, the judge can increase the fine up to three times.
Netlist filed a legal case against Samsung about two years ago. It was alleged that Samsung’s memory modules used in computing servers and other data-related technologies infringed its patents. Netlist said its innovations have increased the power efficiency of memory modules, allowing users to extract useful information from large amounts of data in a short period of time. However, Samsung has denied the allegations of patent infringement. The company argued that the patents were not valid and that its technology worked differently from Netlist’s innovations.
Samsung had also filed a legal case against Netlist in Delaware, USA. In this, Netlist was accused of breaking the obligation to provide fair licenses for the technology required to comply with international standards. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip FE can be launched soon. To keep this foldable smartphone affordable, there may be some reduction in its features compared to the company’s Galaxy Z Flip series.
