A media report states that TVS Motor aims to use its Indonesia factory to increase its market share in ASEAN countries, where the iQube electric scooter is already being sold. KN Radhakrishnan, director of the company, said, “We expect the country to emerge as a major export hub for electric two-wheelers. With continued investments in EV supply chain and infrastructure, we are confident of maintaining the company’s strong position in this segment.” The ASEAN countries include Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.
TVS Motor may soon start exporting electric scooters to other countries as well. Recently TVS Motor introduced a new variant of iQube. It has a 2.2 kW battery. Its starting price is Rs 94,999 (ex-showroom). It can be charged from 0-80 percent in about two hours. Sales of electric two-wheelers have increased rapidly in the last few years.
The top speed of the new TVS iQube is around 75 kmph. It has a five-inch color TFT screen. This electric scooter has features like vehicle crash and tow alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. It competes with electric scooters like Ola S1 Pro and Hero Vida V1. The 2.2 kW battery variant of TVS iQube is available in Pearl White and Walnut Brown colors. The company’s iQube ST has been made available in two variants of 3.4 kW and 5.1 kW battery. Their prices are Rs 1.55 lakh and Rs 1.83 lakh respectively. The 3.4 kW variant of iQube ST has a range of about 100 km on a single charge. It can be charged from 0-80 percent in about three hours.
